We conserve wildlife & wilderness in the Zambezi Valley.
OUR WORK
The Zambezi Society is dedicated to conserving the wildlife and wilderness values of the Zambezi River Valley, through leadership, collaboration, support and hands on conservation work.
WHERE WE WORK
Our wider focus to conserve the wildlife and wilderness of the Zambezi Valley encompasses the entire Zambezi Valley Basin. We maintain a ‘watchdog’ and advocacy role with regard to developments and planning across the entire basin. Our operational focus is currently confined to the Zambezi Valley within Zimbabwe - where one of the world’s largest, contiguous areas of protected, unsettled, wild land has been set aside for natural resource conservation.
THE ZAMBEZI VALLEY, WITHIN ZIMBABWE INCLUDES
2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites (Victoria Falls and Mana-Sapi-Chewore)
5 National Parks (Zambezi, Victoria Falls, Chizarira, Matusadona and Mana Pools
9 Safari Areas
The Middle Zambezi Biosphere Reserve
2 Ramsar wetland sites of international importance (Victoria Falls and Mana Pools)
3 important bird areas (Zambezi, Chizarira and Mana Pools)
